Little Boy / Big Boy

Never heard of this gay-themed Indie film until last night, and i guess my curiosity got a better hold me with the involvement of a little boy in the movie plot. I decided to watch it without any dire expectation and to my surprise without being overly effusive I was entertained. More so, the film made me think, which very few movies are able to do to me.

The movie plot is very simple and straight-forward, which most of the time is considered bad, but works perfectly for this film. It tells the story Emon, a very sexually active gay guy, and his struggle to balance his private life and his desire to maintain a serious exclusive relationship with his new lover Tim, amidst his task to look after his nephew Zack. More compelling about the film is that despite the simplicity of its depiction of the conflicts of interest between the two main characters, Emon and Tim, it manages to profoundly express the message that it is trying to convey. Acceptance, love, family, and self-respect.

There is just one thing though that I think tainted the main focus of the film, the orgy scene was delivered longer that it should have been, which for me deviates the attention of the viewers to the more compelling issues that the film touched. Like what really constitutes a family and exclusivity in a relationship. Nonetheless, I find the film refreshing compared to other gay-themed Indie films that portray nothing more than titillating scenes on sexuality.

More films like this in the future sana...

Soliloquy 080410

time moves slowly...learn to deal with it.

So instead of fighting the whole world over your series of unfortunate events, learn to live within it and not out of it.

That way you'll learn to appreciate the goodness in everything no matter how difficult the situation is.

Shelter OST : "More Than This"

I feel in love with this film...
the story line is very simple, yet very endearing...
i find it really heartwarming.

the two main characters, Zach and Shaun, didn't feel like acting at all as the scenes were too natural.

More importantly, i like how the film depicted the fear and joy that almost every gay individual feel about discovering their sexuality for the first time. I felt it then...and maybe that's why i related to the film so much.

The fear towards family rejection, public humiliation and being the subject of ridicule is too great to be ignored.

Anywayzzzzzzzzzz! the film also has a great soundtrack. The video attached is one of them.
