soliloquy 111510

It's been awhile since my last entry, i guess i have lost my muse.

A lot of things had happened since then, i got preoccupied with other things that blinded me with the reality of what i really want to do with my life. I will be 35 in a few weeks and that scares me. More than anything else its the getting old part that is freaking me out and add to that the fear of spending the dawn of my life alone and unloved.

It's been three years since my last relationship and let's face it being in your 30's makes it even more difficult to find a partner. I am not saying i am lonely nor i long for a relationship right now, it's just that i miss having someone who cares and to care for deeply. Someone that i could talk to when i don't feel so good and to share happy moments with.

I guess more than the petty fights and the late night talking and laughter...i miss the feeling that i belong to someone.

we maybe a make up of diverse cultures...but, we certainly don't hate. PROUD TO BE PINOY!!!

This girl frauleinlinardi was nonexistent in my world till about 3pm this afternoon. My attention was brought to her by a college friend and I have to say I pity her. It seems her actions are driven by a desire to be famous, regardless whose toes she step on. I really pity anybody who doesn't seem to have the intellectual capacity to differentiate opinion from judgment, or personal views from discrimination. These kind of people have nothing but hate woven in every fiber of their being and is therefore incapable of love and happiness. So sad.

Now let me get into what she said/blogged/tweeted and i'd like to present a counter of her every statement. This may get nowhere but, I simply would like to opine my thoughts.

This frauleinlinardi girl said that she is confused why she is being cyber bashed by Filipinos for tweeting "I hate Filipinos," since she was only stating an opinion.

This I have to say, opinion is defined as taking a view on a particular issue that is usually triggered by a personal judgment which is subsequently an expression of worth of someone or something. The word hate is an intense feeling of dislike that can be directed to oneself, an inanimate object, a particular individual or a group of people, and to an extent a particular race. By tweeting "I hate Filipinos" she has explicitly proclaimed to the world that in her hateful eyes the Filipinos are inferior compared to her. Still she's claiming that she's confused, how much more stupid can she get???

I am not claiming here that we Filipinos are a superior race, the point that I am making HERE is that NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO DISPARAGE US AS A RACE, OR ANY OTHER RACE FOR THAT MATTER and DEFINITELY NOT YOU frauleinlinardi. YOU SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT. We are a race defined by our diverse culture and history and I won't allow you or anybody else to define us to your liking because unlike you we Filipinos wear our badge with overwhelming honor and pride anywhere we go.

"FILIPINOS ARE NOT ASIANS. You guys are Pacific Islanders/Austronesian"

A FILIPINO is defined as someone who is native to the Philippine Islands, located in Southeast Asia. Native, on the other hand, is defined as originating or indigenous in a particular place. Let me present a logical thought:

Philippines is located in Southeast Asia

Filipinos are natives of the Philippines

Therefore, Filipinos are Southeast Asians.

What are Pacific Islanders or Austronesians then? These two are actually the cultural and ancestral lineage of Filipinos, particularly the Malay-Austronesian descent, who were considered to be the early settlers in the Philippine Islands. It is a widely accepted fact that we Filipinos are a race of diverse culture resulting from multiple colonization that spanned for centuries. So, what are we really???

We, the Filipino People are of Asian and Pacific Descent, through our Austronesian Ancestors. A S I A N S!!!

We are Asians frauleinlinardi. ACCEPT THAT FACT!!!

"the Filipinos I was taking about is not all Filipinos. If you learn literature well, you must be familiar with synecdoche: totum pro parte (taking a whole for a part) i was using the Filipinos in that context. Like i said i have some cool Filipino friends."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

sorry, i can't help but laugh at this.

This is the lamest and the stupidest excuse I have ever read. FYI frauleinlinardi, the word FILIPINO is the proper noun for our nationality. Proper noun in English grammar refers to a particular name...in short, that is the name given to our nationality and should not be taken in any other contextual form, other than as an adjective, which is to describe or characterize something that is originating from the Philippines. e.i. Filipino food, Filipino craftsmanship....so don't talk to us about synecdoche or totum pro parte because that doesn't justify what you meant by what you tweeted. Filipinos simply means Filipinos. PERIOD!!!

"I am not the only person that thinks Filipinos are culturally confused and it has been predicted 23 years ago by James Fallows in his article "A Damaged Culture: A New Philippines." And a little trivia here, do you know that James Fallows was also attacked like me now?"

The nerve to compare herself with the internationally recognized journalist James Fallows. I want to slap her in the face right now to awaken her from her delusion. FYI again frauleinlinardi, Fallows' article was an in depth and thorough analysis of the Filipino culture before, during, and after the Marcos regime. While your tweet "I hate Filipinos" is nothing but trashy HATE SPEECH sugar coated with the belief that it's ok since you will be posting it on Twitter, and the arguments you presented are of no value at all. Simply the screaming mind of an intellectually inept individual pretending to be smart. You are in no way in the same level with Fallows. FAIL!!!

"Is there is a nation other than the Philippines where the youth are trying to be called Korean/Japanese because of their obsession? I think you know the answer."

This is nothing more but a typical example of EXAGGERATION! Making a mountain out of a molehill, just to be able to say something. This is really stupid that I would even have to inform you of this, but just in case you really don't know, Kpop is a craze or a fad and its popularity is certainly not limited to the Philippines. Let me just remind you again frauleinlinardi that NOT ALL FILIPINO YOUTH are into the fad and I am quite certain that it's the same case with other Asian, Western countries and even in your country INDONESIA.

Psychology professor at the Ateneo de Manila University, Nico Canoy even said that “Regardless of nationality, whether they [the youth] understand it or not, it is actually the beat which hooks them, like any other song. Also, most of these songs are in the form of a dance. It is something extra that you feel beyond the lyrics.”

Your HYPOCRISY is really something, and i really hope you drown in it.

"There's only one country in the world whom gov't support prostitution: the Philippines. No wonder the women are sluts."

Read this frauleinlinardi :

Prostitution in Indonesia

In practice prostitution is widespread, tolerated and regulated. Prostitution is most visibly manifested in Indonesia’s brothel complexes "lokalisasis", which are found throughout the country. These brothels are managed under local government regulations.

UNICEF estimates that 30 percent of the female prostitutes in Indonesia are below 18.

Child sex tourism is a problem, especially on the resort islands of Bali and Batam.

Internal TraffickingIndonesia has a significant amount of internal trafficking of victims who are trafficked from rural to urban areas for sexual and labor exploitation.7 The NGO, Abdi Ahsi, reported that 3,000 women per year were trafficked from rural East Java to Surabaya.

CHILD PROSTITUTION in INDONESIA:

CHILD SOLDIERSOfficial statistics reported 75,106 registered prostitutes in 1999, upfrom 72,000 in 1995. However, NGOs estimate that there are as manyas 1.3 million prostitutes in the country, 30% of who may be under 16years of age.Indonesia's Ministry of Social Affairs said 60% of 71,281 registeredprostitutes are aged 15 -20.An initial moderate estimate of the prevalence of child prostitution inIndonesia is that around 30% of the total sex workers in the country areunder 18 years. This constitutes around 40,000 to over 150,000 basedon different estimates of the number of sex workers.A university professor estimates that about 150,000 children enterprostitution each year. The prevalence of child prostitutes appears tovary by region. According to a recent NGO study, about 15% of theprostitutes in parts of Central Java were between 16 and 20 years old.30% of the girls in Semarang, Indonesia, who are homeless, are forcedinto prostitution for survival.

There are at least 650,000 prostitutes in Indonesia. In 1998 there were 150,000 registered prostitutes compared to 72,000 in 1995.Now the statistic increase 5 time in 2008. Yogyakarta Mohammad Farid, “Indonesian economic crisis boosts prostitution, Reuters, 26 July”.This is like no end story to me and for Indonesian “segalanya pahit untuk diterima”.Whatever reason prostitution has largely been created in a muddled confusing effort to legislate morality.Who want to be prostitute? Nobody.. for Indonesian women they have a answer when 200 prostituted women in Jakarta, Indonesia, protesting plans by the mayor to close down their complex carried signs stating “I did not want to become a prostitute. The economic difficulties have made me a prostitute.” (“Indonesian prostitutes join wave of protests,” Reuters, 2 July)

I HOPE THAT I HAVE MADE MYSELF CLEAR WITH ALL THOSE EXCERPTS ABOVE.

UNLIKE YOU frauleinlinardi, I HAVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING THAT PROSTITUTION IS A GLOBAL PROBLEM, THAT IS CERTAINLY NOT LIMITED TO THE PHILIPPINES. AND LIKE YOUR GOV'T, OURS IS DOING ITS PART as well TO CURTAIL HUMAN TRAFFICKING AS THE MAIN SOURCE OF INTERNATIONAL PROSTITUTION.

ONE BIG HYPOCRITE....THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE!!!

WHAT YOU DID WAS WRONG, AND NO AMOUNT OF JUSTIFICATION FROM YOU WILL EVER CORRECT IT. YOU DISCRIMINATED THE ENTIRE FILIPINO PEOPLE WITH YOUR BIGOTRY AND TRASHY HATE SPEECH.

I REALLY PITY YOU frauleinlinardi...SO YOUNG...AND YET YOU HAVE SO MUCH HATE IN YOUR HEART ALREADY.

Little Boy / Big Boy

Never heard of this gay-themed Indie film until last night, and i guess my curiosity got a better hold me with the involvement of a little boy in the movie plot. I decided to watch it without any dire expectation and to my surprise without being overly effusive I was entertained. More so, the film made me think, which very few movies are able to do to me.

The movie plot is very simple and straight-forward, which most of the time is considered bad, but works perfectly for this film. It tells the story Emon, a very sexually active gay guy, and his struggle to balance his private life and his desire to maintain a serious exclusive relationship with his new lover Tim, amidst his task to look after his nephew Zack. More compelling about the film is that despite the simplicity of its depiction of the conflicts of interest between the two main characters, Emon and Tim, it manages to profoundly express the message that it is trying to convey. Acceptance, love, family, and self-respect.

There is just one thing though that I think tainted the main focus of the film, the orgy scene was delivered longer that it should have been, which for me deviates the attention of the viewers to the more compelling issues that the film touched. Like what really constitutes a family and exclusivity in a relationship. Nonetheless, I find the film refreshing compared to other gay-themed Indie films that portray nothing more than titillating scenes on sexuality.

More films like this in the future sana...

Soliloquy 080410

time moves slowly...learn to deal with it.

So instead of fighting the whole world over your series of unfortunate events, learn to live within it and not out of it.

That way you'll learn to appreciate the goodness in everything no matter how difficult the situation is.

Shelter OST : "More Than This"

I feel in love with this film...
the story line is very simple, yet very endearing...
i find it really heartwarming.

the two main characters, Zach and Shaun, didn't feel like acting at all as the scenes were too natural.

More importantly, i like how the film depicted the fear and joy that almost every gay individual feel about discovering their sexuality for the first time. I felt it then...and maybe that's why i related to the film so much.

The fear towards family rejection, public humiliation and being the subject of ridicule is too great to be ignored.

Anywayzzzzzzzzzz! the film also has a great soundtrack. The video attached is one of them.

Soliloquy 072610 Part2

pain strengthens me...

and in my darkest hours it illuminates my way...

much as you want to, you will not break me...

i won't give you that satisfaction...

and i may shed a tear...

but it is with contemplation that what follows is a boisterous laugh,

that will deafen you.

Trust me...

you can't beat me!

Soliloquy 072610

"A trust once broken, can never be restored to its original state."

Can no longer count how many times this line slapped me in the face...still i feel the pain. It seems that no matter what i do, regardless of the reasons, it always feels like i have to prove myself all time. I don't really blame them...ghosts from my actions past continue to haunt them, more so myself.

It's just that sometimes i wish they'd give me a little slack and allow me to do what i have been trying to for the past years, which is to earn back at least a small percentage of the trust they once bestowed on me. It's been an uphill climb and i have fallen many times and every time i do it pains me to realize that i see a pointing finger blazing with blame instead of a gentle hand to help me up back to my feet.

I don't know how much longer do i have to endure this...
